Bananas for Pajamas!

HAPPY MONDAY! I had to pay homage to the old Australian children's show "Bananas in Pyjamas" as I exclaim my gratitude for the lovely gift I received from Christine, who designs for Richard Leeds! I am "bananas" for the cozy, comfy pajamas I got as a "just because" present! Christine was reading Delirium and decided to look me up online. When she read that I like to write at home in my pajamas, she sent me a goodie bag stuffed with like 8 pairs of the cutest pajamas you ever did see! I'm pretty much set for the year now :) Thanks, Christine!

I have a dream! Writing Challenge

Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His diligent leadership during the Civil Rights Movement helped change this country for African Americans, but in reality, he changed the world. He moved his followers with his words and the power in which he delivered his speeches was unmatched. Listening to his "I Have A Dream" speech makes me wish I could have been there on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial with him back in 1963! I would have adjusted my cat-eye glasses and started marching until my heels cracked! That is what a great orator can do to you, move you to feel what they feel and join their cause.

This week I'm calling on you to write a speech that moves people to act. Now, I won't be able to see you deliver the speech (unless you send me a video, which would be awesome!), but in reading it one should be compelled to go with you to the "Mountaintop"! Submit a speech about anything you want to me at laurenoliverbooks@gmail,com. I don't care if you are advocating for the end of polka dots or for oral hygiene breaks during school hours, as long as it's persuasive and stirring enough to inspire change. Keep it under 300 words, and I'll post a couple of them right here!

Get crackin!!!

Bling Bling, Lauren Oliver-Style!

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but I can honestly say I just love all kinds of jewelry! Especially unique, one-of-kind pieces that no one else has. So when Grace, a blogger/ reviewer for Peace, Love, Teen Fiction, sent me these gorgeous earrings I nearly flipped my lid, in a good way! I can't wait to rock my Liesl & Po earrings and my Delirium trilogy earrings! The hard part will be deciding which to wear first. The detailing is absolutely perfect and they are just the right amount of delicate and bad-ass! Once again, I must say my fans rock! If you don't know what I mean, check out this post from last week. I am so ridiculously blessed! Grace, thanks for making my day, no, my week!

Cheers to the freakin weekend, everyone!

More Magazine Coverage... This Time I'm In TIME!!!!

Run, bike, ski, do whatever you have to do to get to the newsstands today! Ladies and gentlemen, I'm in TIME magazine's January 9th issue about things to know about for 2012. If this isn't supercalafragalistic, I don't know what is!!! In a really funny article detailing the media, sports, and political face-offs to watch for in the new year, TIME has Pandemonium (the second book in the Delirium trilogy) pitted against Insurgent by Veronica Roth (which is also the second in a YA trilogy). It's on, Veronica!... Just kidding! She's actually a cool-as-heck author I've had the privilege of traveling and hanging with. So congrats to her, too, for having her book featured in TIME! And congrats to me! Cheers!

A Fan's Tribute to Amor Deliria Nervosa

Happy Friday, everyone! As a little pre-weekend treat, I thought I'd share with you something beautiful made by a Delirium fan. Chelsea, who runs a blog called A Curious Reader, created a lovely handbook inspired by Delirium. It's filled with quotes from the book and it's fashioned on what is probably the most gorgeous paper I've ever seen! I'm sincerely touched by Chelsea's tribute to amor deliria nervosa and thrilled that she conjured up such an amazing project. This just adds more evidence to the proof that I have the BEST FANS EVER!!!

Check out her post right HERE! She has even more stunning photos over there.

My BFF and I are Glossy, and I'm Not Talking Lip Gloss, Baby!!!!

OMG, OMG, OMG! Justine magazine did a super-cute article about me and my bestie, Elizabeth Miles, author of Fury. You have to check it out! It's fun, girly, and gossippy so you all should LOVE it! And yes, I know gossippy is not a real word. ;)

2012 New Year's Resolutions!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!!!! I hope the holidays were good to you and that you have a prosperous and amazing 2012! I am super excited about this year since there are several things in the works, both in my personal and professional lives. You should stay tuned for more posts about upcoming events in the weeks/months to come... although, most of you already know that I'll be releasing Pandemonium next month! Yay!

As this time of year dictates, we must make promises to better ourselves (yada, yada, yada) and put our RESOLUTIONS out there for all the world to see. Well, maybe we ALL don't, but I am! Here they are:

1--Cook more at home, especially Indian and Thai food! Yum!

2--Keep the house cleaner on a day-to-day basis.

3--Make my bed every morning. This is actually a recurring resolution, so hopefully 2012's the charm!

4--Learn how to manage stress better. Punching people in the face and crying into pillows has proven ineffective.

5--Spend at least one night a week on a date with my fiance; one night with friends; and one night reading or doing creative work. (Sock puppets, anyone?)

I'm sure I could use a few more... Feel free to share some of yours so I can steal them! Cheers to another wonderful year with the best fans EVER!

xoLauren
