Introducing...LIESL & PO!!

I am so, so, excited about what I have to share with you today...Advance Readers Copies of my new middle-grade book, LIESL & PO!! Some of the sketches aren't final, but the ARCs come swaddled in this absolutely gorgeous box; check out the pictures below. Isn't it magic??

DON'T YOU WANT ONE???

Well, GOOD. Because I'm giving away THREE COPIES NOW, and I'll give away THREE COPIES EACH MONTH until the book comes out in October.

You might be asking--Why am I so nice? Because I love you, of course!

You might ALSO be asking, how do I enter to win?? Well, in this round, I'm going to keep it simple. You get +1 entry for responding to this post (with your email, of course), and telling me what your favorite book was when you were a little kid. (Mine was probably Matilda, by Roald Dahl, or the Redwall Series, by the brilliant and recently deceased Brian Jacques). Please remember to include your email address!
Additionally, you get +2 for being a follower of my blog, and + 3 for twittering about it. If you do a blog post about the contest/my first foray into middle-grade, you get a whopping +4!

My absolute favorite book as a kid was Martin the Warrior, by the above mentioned Brian Jacques. I got it a school book fair and spent the rest of the evening lost in it. Read through the open house, through dinner, through bedtime, finally stumbled downstairs SOBBING at two in the morning and scared the living daylights out of my mother. I had just never CARED about characters that way before!
And congrats on the MG! Very exciting!

I had so many favorites growing up - the most memorable was Tuck Everlasting because my 4th grade teacher read it to us every single day after lunch. I still hear her voice when I think of it. :) Now I teach 7th grade and read to my kids but not as faithfully.

PS Saw you speak at TLA last week - GREAT insight! I took one of your discussion guides back to my one of my students and she was all smiles. She's read Delirium at least four times this year.

What an awesome giveaway! I would totally love to win an ARC that comes in an adorable box like that!

My favorite book as a child was "Ella Enchanted" by Gail Carson Levine. It's still my favorite children's novel. I loved that Ella knew the prince before the ball and that it wasn't the traditional love-at-first-sight story. It was my first time seeing a new version of a fairy tale. I have gone through a lot of book phases, even as a kid, but there were a few that remained constant:
as a young kid, I was obsessed with The Velveteen Rabbit. I mean obsessed, too, that's not an exaggeration.
As I got a little older, they were almost all classics, especially Oliver Twist, Little Men and Anne of Green Gables, all of which still hold a special place in my heart (especially Anne).

Oh, LIESL & PO looks very good! I love the raised bits of the cover. I'd love to read it with/to my 11-year-old sister as I'm trying to encourage her to take pleasure in reading.

When I was younger, my favorite books were James and the Giant Peach and The Witches (and The Twits) by Roald Dahl, Are You There God It's Me Margaret by Judy Blume, and Number the Stars and The Giver by Louis Lowry (sorry, I couldn't pick just one!).

Hooray! I can't wait to read it!
My favorite book when I was growing up was probably...Charlotte's Web. I loved it so hard. And, to this day, I have a huge soft spot for books that are set on farms, or in the countryside somewhere far away from big, bustling cities. I also loved The Witches by Roald Dahl, too. It's a close second. But Charlotte wins out in the end.

I commented (+1) and I'm a follower! (+2), and I can't wait to read Liesl & Po!

Especially the Fear Street Saga, which told how everything began, basically. I still have some of those books and I will always remember cracking into a pile that I had just checked out from the library. Whether it was Goosebumps or Fear Street, R.L. My favorite book as a kid was Friday by Robert Heinlein. Earlier than that, I remember avidly hunting down as many Danny Dunn, Invisible Boy or The Three Investigators titles I could find.

I can not wait to read this book! You are a brilliant story teller.

My favorite book would have to have been Bed Time for Frances by Russell Hoban. I loved her alphabet song!

Thanks for the giveaway!

I'm so sorry but I had many that were equal in terms of how much I loved and re-read them in grade school:
Alice In Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass; Anne of Green Gables;
Little Women;
the Laura Ingalls Wilder books;
the Ramona Quimby books and Ellen Tebbits; Wuthering Heights (not exactly a kid's book);
Island of the Blue Dolphins;
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Charlotte's Web;
The Girl Who Ran Away, by Joan G. Robinson;
National Velvet

I loved Matilda too! I think my favourite book ever as a kid, though, was Enid Blyton's The Magic Faraway Tree.

PS. Not sure if anyone else asked this already but is the contest open internationally?

Honestly, I didn't read a lot of fiction when I was younger. I loved reference books about animals, especially horses and marine life.

I am going to be unoriginal, and say that my favorite book as a child is the Harry Potter series. :)

It would be amazing to receive an ARC of Liesl & Po! I am eagerly awaiting the day of its release and Pandemonium next year!
