Win a Copy of BEFORE I FALL!!

Hi all...

Since I received additional galleys from my publisher recently (yay!), I have decided to start giving them away! 'Tis better to give than to receive, after all.

I'll also be hosting a giveaway through Goodreads (more details on that as I have them), but in the meantime I thought I would have a little mini-contest! I actually plan on having a different contest every week in December, so please check back frequently!

Here's the deal: In order to enter the giveaway, all you have to do is respond to a question I have selected. The questions will be loosely related to Before I Fall, and generally pertain to issues/themes that interest me.

The first question is:

What would you do on the last day of your life?

I know--shallow question, peeps! Please comment back here. The winner will be selected at random but in order to enter you MUST reply to the question in a comment. It is THEMATIC, you see, as Before I Fall is partly about a girl trying to sort out how best to live her last day.

PLEASE RESPOND BY DECEMBER 10TH, when I will be selecting a winner! And make sure you leave me a way to contact you (email or twitter or whatever works for you).

Good luck!!

I honestly have never really thought about it but I guess I would spend it with my parents, maybe go out to the beach for a while, watch some favorite movies, stuff like that. :)

That's definitely a heavy question...I suppose if pressed for an answer, I would have to say I would spend that time with friends and family (even my four legged fuzzy ones) to make sure they knew how much I really loved them. (Okay, must stop thinking about it now as I am getting teary eyed...)

I’d like to think that I’d go for a swim in the ocean, walk to the top of a mountain, cook a huge meal with my friends and family then go to bed with the person I love most... but in reality I would probably spend the whole day trying to do anything and everything I could to make sure it wasn’t my last day.

Man, that is a really depressing question. (eyes prickling). I would make a video for my family, hold my kids. I would want it to end on a beach.

I'd find the most beautiful place in the woods by my house and take my close friends and family there with some excellent food. Then I'd just soak up the beauty of my environment and reminisce while making last minute memories.

That is a tough question. I would like to think that I would do things that I was always to afraid to do but I would probably still be too afraid to do them. =] I guess, in the end, I would probably just want to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible.

Everything! lol No, I don't know really. I would want to travel somewhere that I haven't been before. Since places outside the states take longer than a day then I think I would go to California. End the day watching the sun set at the Golden Gate bridge. corny, silly, whatever I like it. ;)

I'd want to do so much. I think I'd end up settling for going back to the NW and getting a cabin up in the mountains and have my family and close friends beside me and just enjoy them and the scenery. I'd make it a day full of memories.

Hmm, not something I think about much. I guess I'd just spend the day with my closest family and friends. But not sad stuff. It would have to all happiness and laughs. I'd rather not spend my last day all mopey and depressed. I'd make sure to finish all of the books that I'm currently reading, cause it would just suck to die before I knew what happened at the end of the book! Then I'd write my will, in which I'd donate all of my books to some local charity or something. Can't let 'em go to waste! :)

This is a question/answer that we all should be considering as we live each day now to the utmost with gratitude for the beautiful, fulfilling day. Since I would have done everything of importance to me already, my last day would be spent with family and friends. We would be sharing memories and at the same time we would be planning for the future for those who continue living. This would be a day of celebration and renewal for all who are there.

This question is exactly why I can't wait to read your book :)

My last day would have to be spent with my immediate family & BFF. I'm not to picky, I'd be happy to just sit around & gab over drinks. There would be so many things I'd want my kiddo's to know about life & growing up so I think I'd want to feel like of all things in life I was the best parent I could be. My BFF well we'd be laughing over old times drinking pina coladas & tequila shots (ok, maybe not the best mix, lol) of course!

I have been thinking about this question more than once actually. Its really hard to imagine..since you never know if you really woul do what you said or just freak out the whole day long until you die haha.
But right now I think I would spend my day with my family and my closest friends. But I`d also like to spend sometime with myself thinking about my life..though not too long about the crappy stuff lol and I would read my most favorite book one last time.
I would also stuff my most favorite things in my pockets and whereever i have room to "take" them with me when I die..well I would at least try LOL
Its so weird and actually pretty devastating to think about this question because there are soo many things I`d like to do but simply couldnt because one day wouldnt suffice...we always take life for granted and on that last fateful day its a bit to late to turn it into something crazy awesome..thats my opinion.

Hi Lauren :)
On the last day of my life, and I KNEW it was my last day, what would I do? I would write a letter to each of my children detailing advice for life and how much I love them. I would ask forgiveness from those I've wronged and seek reparation from those who've wronged me. I would do something I always wanted to do but kept putting off.
Thanks for the thoughtful question.
All the best,
RKCharron

I would definitely spend every second I could with my family, maybe go have a picnic at the park or the beach. Also eat everything I love.

Tough question. I'd have to spend it with the people I love most: my friends, family, etc. I'd probably pig out, because who cares about gaining weight when you're going to be dead the next die? And I'd listen to all of my favorite music and spend time walking through the woods.

I would like to think I'd take the high road and spend it all in the beauty of our yard in spring, with my family and our dog. Discussing memories and dreams, just like we do now.

For my last day I would want to spend it with my family and friends. We would all go out and do something fun and hive a good time. I would also let them know how much I love them and what they all meant to me.

On my last day, I'd pack up my RV with my family and tons of super delicious, unhealthy bits of food and go for one last road trip. Hopefully to the Grand Canyon.

What would I do if I knew it was the last day of my life? I would spent it with my entire family, all ten of my siblings and both of my parents. Despite the fact that my house feels overcrowded when everyone is home so most of the time, I hate it, but I love each and every one of them from their best traits to their very worst. I actually had a dream one time when I was dead and I was watching my family after I had died and it was the most aweful nightmare I have ever had. I was so relieved when I realized it was just a dream and it made me realize that my family is the most important thing to me in life, and if it really was the last day of my life and I knew it, I would want to spend it with all ten of my siblings, and both of my parents with their best and worst traits included, doing all of our favorite family traditions, sharing jokes around the table at dinner time, and even arguing! It's what makes my family a family, and I wouldn't want anything left out.

Hopefully, I'd have had a bit of warning and would have bought the most outrageously beautiful dress to wear all day. I'd meet friends and family at a beach that also had walking/hiking trails around. We'd swim, hike, eat a delicious picnic, drink wine, play with dogs, eat some more... Then I'd go home, take a hot shower, and go to sleep in a chilly room under a heavy duvet.

I would call my very best friends and family and hang out with them and we'd just chill. And then I would tell a certain male friend something highly personal. I'd just want to be and spend time with those I love. Oh, and try and go to see my favorite band live and get in the front row that night.

I know that a lot of people would probably run around the world to travel and do things they've always wanted to do before they die. As much as I would love to do that, I think I would spend the last day with my family. Or maybe I would have a big celebration and have everyone that I love attend. That way I'll leave, to wherever it is people go to after death, happy and joyous.

I would like to say that I would do something exciting, but I know myself and I would want to make my life count. I don't have a lot of money to leave to a charity, and that would be something I would like to do. So instead I would spend quality time with my family - all of us, no matter how far apart we are from each other. Once I knew time was running short, I would make sure I knew for sure that my organs would be donated. Maybe even even do some research to see if there was somebody specific I could help. If I'm going to die, I wouldn't want anything going to waste. I wouldn't be needing any of it where I'd be going anyway.

What a great - but tough- question! In my final 24 hours of life, I think I'd do a number of things. I would spent the majority of the day with those who are closest to me - just being in their presence, laughing, celebrating, living in the moment and enjoying the fact that we're all alive together. Outside, in nature, because I'd want to drink up the sheer beauty and wonder of life. I'd also bury a time capsule of things that are important to me or something I'd like to be remembered by in say, 50 years time. Just so I know that I've left some mark on the world, that in decades time someone will dig that up and marvel over whatever I've left in there. It's just a nice little feeling... for future generations to know I lived and breathed in this era.

And (yeah, I'm rambling here!) I'd like to spend an hour or so planting flowers, a tree, new life, etc. Allowing something beautiful to be born back into the world as I exit it.

I'm sure I could think of a whole host of other things I'd like to do, but 24 hours goes by pretty quickly! Anyway, love the thought-provoking question. I'm not sure if this is open internationally, if not then don't add mine in! ;)

Thanks!

I would finally sky-dive and bungee jump. The only thing that has stopped me from doing either so far is my morbid fear of dying from both. So if I have only one day left...*shrug*.

Being a not very social person to begin with, I wouldn't surround myself with a lot of people. Instead, I would choose a few choice people - most likely immediate family and boyfriend, as well as a few good story tellers (like my boyfriend's father) - and go out to a fancy dinner. I would ask them all their favorite memory of me, and also their favorite memory from their life thus far. I'd get someone (or myself) to write them all down in a book, so that when I passed on, they could look back at all the happy memories they have and share them with each other so that they could keep the spirit alive.

I think this is an amazing idea!

To be honest, I'd have a huge lunch / dinner at my house for all my friends and family. I would want to see them all before I go. I would cater for it all as I love cooking and it would be a treat to look after everyone else this one last time. Naturally the dessert would be the best thing I've ever created.

Then I'd like a slow dance with my hubby, then some crazy dancing with my friends (think Molly Ringwald kicky dancing), then retiring to my room to read one of my favourite books probably by someone like Charles de Lint of Sarah Dessen and cuddle with my dog and hubby.

I'd spend my time with my family, playing games, talking and enjoying one another's company. It wouldn't be a sad day, but a day full of love and memories and stories. It would be a great big fun time with me and my family.
